Description
The proposed project will see the existing building refurbished to Cat A fit-out. The Bury Park Community Centre is a two storey building on the Dunstable Road to the north west of Luton town centre.
Bury Park Community Centre is fronted onto the Dunstable Road in the northeast and the main vehicular access to the site is off Avondale Road in the southwest. The site sloped downward from Avondale Road to the Dunstable Road by some two to three metres. The site broadly comprised 50% building and 50% hard standing with no areas of soft landscaping, and is within an area of mixed commercial and residential use.
The Community Centre offers a range of facilities to visitors, including venue rooms, a library access point, a lunch club and Nursery room to the rear. The primary vertical transportation consists of one passenger lift at the centre of the building; this is available for use by staff and visitors. Stairs are also available for building users.
