Description
enhance preventative mental health provision in the borough. The commissioned service for perinatal mental health in Barnet is delivered by Camden & Islington Foundation Trust. one of the local challenges is identifying women who are planning a pregnancy, pregnant or have a young baby who are or may struggle with their mental health and empowering them to access the Perinatal Mental Health Service. some demographic groups are less likely to access the specialist service available to them. We therefore intend to commission a perinatal mental health outreach worker to increase the reach of, and referrals into, the Perinatal Mental Health Service. For a 6-month period, the Outreach Worker will target hard-to-reach groups and groups known not to access the specialist service, to engage women in conversations about perinatal mental health. The worker will equip target groups with the skills to identify if they are struggling with their mental health and ensure that they have the information and support they need to access the specialist perinatal mental health service as needed, as well as signposting to other relevant services in the borough. Increasing referrals into the perinatal mental health service has benefits for both health and social care partners given the positive impact on the lives of both the mother and child.
