Covid 19 Bereavement Support & Counselling Service

This service was commissioned in May 2020, initially for six months with Community Barnet. There were two elements of the service: 1. Socio-economic and practical support around bereavement (provided by Community Barnet - the lead provider) 2. Bereavement counselling (subcontracted to Mind in Barnet) The Initial Contract Period ended on 25th November 2020. Community Barnet has been given notice of contract termination in line with the contract terms. The rationale for the decision includes: • number of referrals received to the service are lower than anticipated, the cost per client is higher than we anticipated. Therefore, we have taken the decision in line with ensuring best value for money to continue with maintaining a counselling offer only for people affected by bereavement during Covid with the new provider Mind in Barnet with the option to extend by six months and a total contract value (including the 6-month optional extension of £120,000
