Stage 3 School Streets- Healthy Routes to Schools

To deliver feasibility design for 42 school streets and Road Safety Audit 1/2 for 6 school streets

The School Streets Programme will then look to deliver several school streets using experimental traffic orders (ETMOs) for a period of up to eighteen months during which, comments received during the experimental period constitute the public consultation.

This identified several areas where school streets should be prioritised and delivered (subject to discussions with individual schools which were successful). This list can be seen in 1.4. Blessed Dominics Primary / St James High School on Great Strand was also prioritised but has had designs completed by alternative consultants. 3.4 In March 2023, officers created a staged approach to delivery for school streets and commissioning which can be seen below. • Stage 1 – Deliverability assessment of all schools and technical note • Stage 2 – Data collection (Traffic Counts and Air Quality Monitoring of Deliverability Level 1 and 2 via diffusion tubes; • Stage 3 – Technical Drawings produced for Deliverability Level 1 and 2 sites; liaison with relevant parties across the Council; • Stage 4 - Communications with the school community to measure interest and commitment and how to maximise a potential road closure; • Stage 5 – Reporting of progress, monitoring
