The aim being to ensure that the conference is enjoyable, informative for the industry, based around sustainability in all areas and highlights the marine and maritime heritage of Portsmouth as well as its current maritime connections and developments. This event is both a showcase for the industry and the city and PIP want to position Portsmouth as an innovative leader within the ports sector, as such PIP are looking for a creative events organiser to help support this vision.

PIP is the UK's most successful council owned port and it is considered to be a major UK port, responsible for handling millions of customers and vital cargo across the globe.

PIP is a member of the British Ports Association (BPA), which is a national trade membership body for ports in the UK representing the interests of operators, that handle 86% of all UK port traffic, to various tiers of national and devolved governments in the UK and internationally. The BPA membership is made up of ports, terminal operators and port facilities with a strong network of associate members. PIP's Port Director is currently the BPA chair.

The BPA hold an annual conference which in 2023 is being held in London. In 2024 the conference will be held in Portsmouth during 9th - 10th October and will be hosted by PIP. This is an opportunity to showcase the city to the industry and promote the port's credibility on a national major marine and maritime stage.

The format of the conference for 2023 will be as follows: o Day 1 - Full day of business conference and exhibition followed by evening welcome reception. o Day 2 - Full day of business conference and exhibition followed by evening end of conference celebration.

Delegate numbers usually run to a maximum of 400, though all delegates do not necessarily attend all events.

The estimated value of the contract is thought to be in the region of ?280,000 to ?330,000 to include all areas of the conference and the services of the events company.

The contract is expected to be awarded on Monday 3 October 2023 with planning work starting almost immediately and will run until the conclusion of the conference in October 2024 followed by a wash up meeting.

It is hoped that the successful contractor will be able to join PIP at the 2023 conference in London running from 17th to 19th October 2023.
