Description

The City of London Police (“the Police”) covers the square mile of the City of London. The City is a world leader in financial and business services, and has a small residential population of approximately 8,000 although this number is swelled by an influx of 350,000 commuters as well as people travelling through and visitors. It has a thriving night time economy, and is the lead area for economic crime.

The City of London Police ("the Police") have the overall legal duty of care for detainees in police custody. The Police are looking to appoint a Provider to supply a clinical and forensic healthcare service in police custody.

The Services that are procured shall: • Be reflective of need as evidenced by the most recent local Health Needs Assessment and as detailed within the Authorised Professional Practice (APP) for Detention and Custody. • Be compliant with Police and Criminal Evidence Act and the APP for Detention and Custody. • Work with custody staff to improve efficiency for custody related healthcare and policing. • Reduce the impact on acute health services where possible. • As a first point of contact, be able to assess, manage and/or refer to care pathways for Detained Persons (DPs) to include physical, mental health, learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, substance and alcohol misuse. • Contribute to reducing reoffending by actively cooperating with integrated offender management processes within the City of London Police. • Make the best use of available resources (efficiency). • Aim for continuous service improvement.
