Description

The BBC holds a large number of internet domain names for its services and content and is seeking to appoint a supplier to manage the registration, renewals, transfers and general management of its portfolio of generic and international domain names. The BBC has a portfolio of generic (gTLD), sponsored (sTLD) and International Country Code (ccTLD) internet domain names currently being managed by an external domain management supplier. The management of the portfolio includes all aspects of registrations, renewals, transfers and DNS management with the exception of hosting of associated domain name content. The following summary provides a category breakdown of the current portfolio of domain names in order to set expectations for the scope of current and expected work. • gTLD’s = 58%; • ccTLD’s/sTLD’s = 41%;* (Includes a high proportion of .uk names); • Domain blocks (.xxx) = 1% The contract will be for a period of 36 months due to commence on 1st April 2016. There is an option to extend the contract by up to 24 months following the expiry of the initial term. There is also the potential for a further ancillary service for running the .bbc registry which could be included in year 4 and 5 should the BBC wish to extend the contract.
