Description
Hull City Council is seeking to invest in a Whole School Food and Nutrition Programme which will add value to, and complement, other services in the City to improve the health of the population. We are seeking experienced providers who are able to work in an integrated way. This service will contribute to the delivery of Hull's City Plan, specifically the Prevention and Early Intervention priority which aims to provide people most in need with the right support, when they most need it. It also supports the delivery of Hull's Health and Well Being Board and Early Help Strategies. The provider will work directly with 45 schools (in agreement with the Authority) including primary, secondary, special and PRU's (over the three-year contract), targeting those in the most deprived areas and with the highest levels of obesity to build a whole-school approach to food and to promote good nutritional health in all pupils. The provider will offer training and support to schools at a variety of levels. The aims of the programme: >Whole School Approach >Training >Healthy / sustainable Food Provision >Growing and origins of food >Promotion and marketing >Future Development The service provider will take a whole-school, partnership approach to food, with collaboration between children, head teachers, teachers, support staff, governors, supervisors, cooks, school catering services, parents and communities. The provider shall ensure that all schools taking part in the programme will work towards the nationally accredited Soil Association's Catering Marks (bronze, silver and gold). The Authority proposes to enter into one Contract for a period of 3 years with the successful Tenderer (Service Provider), with an option to extend for a period or periods of up to a maximum of 12 months. Such extension will be at the discretion of the Council and subject to satisfactory performance. The anticipated service commencement date is 4 January 2016.
