The 5 year contract commenced 1st June 2015 with NHS England having an option to extend for a further 2 years. LCFT are the incumbent prison healthcare providers within Lancashireâs prisons. Following an OJEU competitive procurement process advertised in June 2014 by NHS England, Lancashireâs five prisons are deemed to be phase 4 of the competitive procurement process. It is LCFTs understanding that it is now commissioners intentions to go out to tender in 2016/17, for a prison healthcare provider with a contract start 1st April 2017 for 5 years (option to extend for a further 2 years). LCFT are therefore seeking to appoint sub-contractor primary care medical services provider/s from 1st April 2016 until 31st March 2017, with a view to partnering with us to bid for the 5 year NHS England prison healthcare contract which is due to be advertised in 2016/17 as described above.
The foremost aim is to deliver a patient focused legally compliant Prison Primary Care Medical Service (General Practitioner) to the prisons detailed below in order to meet the primary medical care needs of the prisoner populations to agreed professional standards.

Provider(s) will be required to provide high standards of clinical care and excellent patient outcomes within a quality improvement value for money healthcare environment which is safety and security conscious; working in partnership with the wider healthcare team, prison governors/staff and commissioners.
