Description
NRW is seeking to award a framework for the supply of helicopter support services for firefighting, reconnaissance during fires and post fire damage assessment, and to assist flooding incidents. The principle purpose of the requirement is to support the Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) in tackling grassland, moorland and forest fires. Where a fire has become well established and/or is out of control on the land we manage or neighbouring land where conditions pose a threat to our land, and when authorised by NRW other areas of similar countryside manged by third parties. A secondary purpose of this requirement will be on an ad hoc basis to provide support to departments within NRW for other operations such as lifting sandbags or stone for flood defence work or mountain footpath repair. The contract modification will extend the service by 6 months (until 31/08/2023) to cover a period of high wildfire risk while a service review is undertaken.
