Description
A public health funeral is a funeral carried out under a legal obligation imposed upon the Council as the local authority. When a person sadly passes away within its boundary, where there are no known next of kin or no one is able or willing to arrange a funeral. This duty falls upon the local authority in accordance with section 46 of The Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984. Nottingham City Council and Mansfield District Council are seeking tenders from sufficiently experienced and qualified contractors for the provision of Public Health Funerals. Nottingham City Council is also seeking a suitable Provider for The Nottingham Funeral. The purpose of the Nottingham Funeral Scheme is to facilitate access to a Funeral package that offers best value for the Citizens of Nottingham City. This package is also designed to provide for a dignified and respectful funeral. The Nottingham Funeral scheme is only available at the time of death. It is not a pre-paid Funeral Plan.
