Description
What is Cornwallâs and the Isle of Scilly definition of independent advocacy?
âAlthough many advocacy services are commissioned by public authorities they are required to function independently. Independent advocacy promotes the exploration of options and choices with vulnerable children, young people and adults by assisting them to understand the information that is available to them. It empowers those people to make sure that their views and wishes are heard and that they are treated fairly and equally. Independent advocacy helps in navigating public services and in accessing the right support to achieve greater independence and wellbeingâ.
2015 integrated project.
The integrated project will be holding an engagement event for all potential independent advocacy providers on:
Monday 27 April 10.00-12.00 pm at St Erme Community Centre Castle Field, Trispen, Truro TR4 9BD
Please register your interest, a maximum of 3 people per organisation at the end of this form so we can accommodate.
Opportunities from the session:
⢠To hear from the integrated project as to their needs and wishes for future delivery. ⢠To give contact details for your organisation to the integrated project for inclusion in the coproduction of service design and delivery. ⢠To network with other existing and potentially new advocacy providers and develop partnerships to approach a generic tender whilst retaining specialist skills. ⢠To provide understanding as to statutory duties and training requirements for both paid/unpaid staff.
What do We need to know?
⢠What independent advocacy services are available for individuals in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly? ⢠Which of these providers within the Market are willing to work with the project in both the design and potential delivery of independent advocacy? ⢠Where are the current gaps in independent advocacy provision? ⢠How do we achieve value for money?
The Integrated project is looking for a provider/s who will work with them to develop quality services that offer flexibility, are responsive and give people choice and control over how their eligible independent advocacy needs are met.
These services are generic to include Learning Disability, Older People and people with Physical Disabilities â the potential business value is estimated at £1.5 million.
The required service provision will include, but not be limited to: ⢠Partnership working, engagement and user facilitation, self-advocacy and peer advocacy; ⢠Complaints and appeal independent advocacy; ⢠Independent Mental Health Advocates; ⢠Independent Mental Capacity Advocates; ⢠Independent Mental Capacity Advocates Deprivation of Liberty; ⢠Paid Representation including use of skilled volunteers; ⢠Care Act statutory duties including care planning and safeguarding.

This market assessment is not part of any procurement process. It is purely investigatory in nature, although it may be used to assist the Partners in defining a work programme and assisting in developing this service. Participation of this soft market assessment will not prejudice suppliers participating in any future procurement.
