Description
The Provider is required to undertake the movement of bodies from the place of death to the specified hospital mortuary / funeral home on the direction of a Police Officer (or other person authorised by the HM Coroner). At times the Provider will be required to arrange the movement and storage of bodies prior to transportation to a designated hospital mortuary and should therefore have the appropriate storage facilities. The County will be divided into four geographical areas encompassing the 7 district and borough areas, but please note this Tender exercise is for Lots 1 and 3 only - please see map for full details. Providers can apply to cover any area/Lot (providing they can cover the whole area) or may apply for both Lots by ticking the relevant box(es) within the Tender questionnaire.
The service will be required from 1st July 2017 for an initial period of 3 years (up to 31st June 2020) with an option to extend for a further period of up to 1 year, taking the total contract term to a maximum of 4 years. Any extension will be agreed between the Council and the providers. The Authority believes that TUPE does not apply to this contract at its commencement. The detailed requirements are defined in the Specification. The deadline for completed ITTs to be received on the LGSS eTendering Portal is 12:00noon on Wednesday 17th May 2017.
